This body of work aims to capture a theme of personal and cultural struggle, rebirth and redemption. Reflecting on my own personal story and the experience of our collective consciousness.
This series of self portraits are inspired by these themes and two modern dance works: Revelations, by Car Van Vechten (Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre) and Lamentation by Martha Graham. I draw from the deep emotionally charged movements of these dances that explore themes of loss and grief, healing, growth and awakening.
