The last time I was at a rally was in 1992 after the acquittal of four L.A.P.D police officers who were caught on video beating Rodney King. The acquittal not only inflamed the citizens of L.A but the outrage was felt across the Globe. For days after, protests and riots engulfed the streets of L.A. and several U.S cities. By my account this was something that my generation had never witnessed first hand before. However, it was by far not the first time that police officers terrorised black men.

Since then many more African Americans have lost their lives are have been incarcerated for minor offences and many rally’s have taken place to protest the brutal shootings of victims like Trayvon Martin, Micheal Brown, Eric Garner and, numerous other African Americans.

The day after inauguration of newly elected American president Donald Trump I felt the same conviction that justice and liberty were being threatened . This time the threat was much more wide spread and non the less sinister. Just as #Blacklivesmatter and always has to me I felt that we all as citizens needed to send a clear and singular message to the new administration. ‘No, not on our watch!”
